GPO 300 series green 'bakelite' table telephone, 1930s-1960s

The iconic design of the classic British 300 series bakelite telephone is matched by superior engineering and solid build quality - these telephones characterise an age when products were truly built to last. With a production life of over 30 years and an enduring appeal, the 300 series is one of Britain's most successful telephone designs.

Most 300s were produced in black, but limited numbers of ivory models were made available to the more affluent subscribers. Lacquer red and jade green versions were produced in limited numbers for special applications - they were not available to domestic subscribers and consequently are very rare. Although commonly referred to as bakelite, early coloured telephones were made from urea formaldehyde and later models from acrylic.

All telephones are prepared to individual customer requirements - please contact us for details.
