EKCO model AC76 valve radio, 1935

Between 1934 and 1945, the company established by Eric Kirkham Cole in Southend produced a series of 5 now famous radio sets, designed by architect Wells Coates.

This was the third - the AC76. In 1935 it cost 11 guineas (around £650 today based on RPI). This example in brown bakelite and bronze metal is in excellent original condition.

While vintage valve radios often do work, they are potentially dangerous. They can be refurbished for use, but this is a specialist area and beyond our capabilities. We therefore sell them as rare and valuable collectables.

Diameter 390mm; depth (excluding knobs) 200mm
