EKCO model AD65 valve radio, 1934

Between 1934 and 1945, the company established by Eric Kirkham Cole in Southend produced a series of 5 now famous radio sets, designed by architect Wells Coates.

This was the first - the AD65. In 1934 it cost 11 guineas (around £650 today based on RPI). It is now the most sought-after of the series. This example in brown bakelite and bronze metal is in very good to excellent condition.

While vintage valve radios often do work, they are potentially dangerous. They can be refurbished for use, but this is a specialist area and beyond our capabilities. We therefore sell them as rare and valuable collectables. (Note that this radio has previously been refurbished by the specialist company Radiocraft).

Diameter 390mm; depth (excluding knobs) 200mm
