GEOGRAPHIA 10 inch terrestrial globe, circa 1947

This is an excellent example of the larger (10") table globe from the British company Geographia. It can be dated to circa 1947 as Pakistan is shown (1947) but Israel is not (1948).

The globe is constructed from a pasteboard sphere with 12 hand-applied paper gores. It features the trademark 'jelly mould' base in mottled dark brown bakelite with a lacquered brass half meridian, polar beaings and finials.

The map retains vivid colour with minimal fading and no loss. There are areas of staining to the Southern Ocean, but these are not obvious from normal viewing angles.

The map and meridian have been carefully cleaned and the base has been polished. Overall the globe is in excellent vintage condition.

Diameter 10 inches (254mm); overall height 365mm
