PHILIPS 'Challenge' 10 inch terrestrial globe, 1966

This is a good example of the classic table globe from the British company Philips, dated 1966.

The globe is constructed from two pasteboard hemispheres with hand-applied composite paper gores, joined at the equator. It features the trademark Everite stepped black bakelite base with a chromed die cast meridian, and an aluminium time dial at the North Pole.

The map, which shows light but uniform fading, has been carefully cleaned and any minor nicks and abrasions have been restored. Overall it is in very good condition. The base and mount have also been cleaned and polished and are in excellent condition.

Diameter 10 inches (250mm); overall height 315mm
