SMITH (SMITHS) SECTRIC steel cased factory wall clock with 18 inch dial, 1942

This is a large and impressive clock designed to be seen from a distance, e.g. a factory floor. It could also be adapted for use outdoors. The case is pressed steel (bakelite was impractical for a case of this size), finished in satin black enamel.

This is a rare wartime example, dated January 1942. The painted steel dial has been cleaned but is otherwise completely original. The clock runs on mains electricity and is driven by the less common self-starting variant of the reliable 'DeLuxe' synchronous motor. It keeps perfect time because it is synchronized to the frequency of the electricity supply.

The clock has been sensitively restored and is in excellent overall condition. It is supplied in full working order with instructions and guidance on aftercare.

Dial diameter 18 inches (457mm); overall diameter 560mm; depth 150mm. Weight 5.5kg
