SMITH (SMITHS) SECTRIC steel cased factory wall clock with 18 inch dial, 1947

This is a large and impressive clock designed to be seen from a distance, e.g. a factory floor. It could also be adapted for use outdoors. The case is pressed steel (bakelite was impractical for a case of this size), finished in satin black enamel.

This well-preserved example bears a hand-inscribed date of 1/47 on the movement housing; the motor is dated 12/46.

The clock runs on mains electricity and is driven by the less common self-starting variant of the reliable 'DeLuxe' synchronous motor. It keeps perfect time because it is synchronized to the frequency of the electricity supply.

The clock has been fully disassembled, cleaned serviced and sensitively restored as required. The painted steel dial has been cleaned but is otherwise completely original.

The clock is supplied in full working order with instructions and guidance on aftercare.
